Hummer, a brand of pickups and SUVs, was first marketed in 1992. It was launched as a sub-brand of GMC in 2020 after its discontinuation in 2010. The origin of this brand began when AM General, an American automotive manufacturer, started selling a civilian version of the M998 Humvee vehicle. Eventually, they went on to sell the first two Hummer H1 models in the commuter market.
However, GMC took the Hummer brand name in December 1999.
